J-20’s chief designer speaks on improvements to aircraft
The chief designer of the J-20, Yang Wei, told China Daily in an exclusive interview during the sidelines of the 13th National People’s Congress that the stealth fighter will be modernized to gain new capabilities.
“We are not complacent about what we have achieved. We will develop the J-20 into a large family and keep strengthening its information-processing and intelligent capacities. At the same time, we will think about our next-generation combat plane to meet the nation’s future requirements,” Yang was quoted as saying.
Yang said it will be a multi-role aircraft but executing those new missions will depend on the jet’s “production and deployment scale.”
