Russia has decided not to export Bal-E to Azerbaijan
Kommersant has found out that Russia has reversed its decision to sell its Bal-E coastal mobile anti-ship missile system to Azerbaijan due to concerns from its own military.
The newspaper says Russia was willing to sell a small number of Bal-Es together with the Kh-35E missiles. The Russian Ministry of Defense is worried that the missiles could pose a threat to its own warships in the Caspian Sea.
The missiles could also be used to strike land targets and Azerbaijan could employ it in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
